Every year, environmental working group (EWG) publishes a list of dirty dozen and clean fifteen foods. Below is the most up to date list plus more for help with your groceries

Dirty Dozen

Non-organic form of these foods contain high levels of pesticides and toxins and therefore should be bought only in the organic form 

  1. Strawberries

  2. Spinach

  3. Nectarines

  4. Apples

  5. Peaches

  6. Pears

  7. Cherries

  8. Grapes

  9. Celery

  10. Tomatoes

  11. Sweet Bell

  12. Potatoes

& In Between

General recommendations while going through the grocery isles (not from EWG)

  1. All the remaining fresh fruits and vegetables

  2. Frozen fruits and vegetables

  3. Fish (small low food chain)

  4. Ground fed lean beef

  5. Organic chicken

  6. Organic lentils

  7. Organic beans & legumes

  8. Basmati rice

  9. Organic seeds and nuts if not sensitive 

  10. Organic dairy if not sensitive 

  11. Plant based milk

  12. Olive/avocado oil

  13. Monk fruit sweetener

Clean Fifteen

These foods contain none or minimum levels of toxins and therefore do not necessarily need to be bought as organic 

  1. Avocados

  2. Sweet Corn

  3. Pineapples

  4. Cabbage

  5. Onions

  6. Sweet Peas

  7. Papayas

  8. Asparagus

  9. Mangoes

  10. Egg Plants

  11. Honey Dew

  12. Kiwi

  13. Cantaloupe
